Loneliness

       LONELINESS

Loneliness, stop following me about!
At times I think I'll almost shout!
"Why me?" "Get oput of my life!"
You're causing me much too much strife.

You're across the table as I sit and eat,
You're one step behind me when I walk down the street.
I try to lose you in a crowded room,
But as I start to leave; there you loom!

Your presence seems much worse at night!
At last I just gave up my fight,
And invited you to stay.
That's when you, loneliness, went away.
